My story

My name is Alex and I am the face behind Almond Milk is Nuts! I have my master’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, and Food Science. I am married to an incredible man and we have a beautiful son together. I am an introverted extrovert and love spending time with my family and friends. I also love trying new experiences and not taking life too seriously. I initially wanted to study nutrition after recovering from an eating disorder in my teens. This was the beginning of my journey into health and nutrition. I am a big believer in moderation and not demonizing foods or food groups. Every food has a place on your plate and there isn’t anything I will tell you you can never eat. I don’t see food as “good” or “bad”, but rather foods you want to eat more or less often. I love all food and believe that if a diet (unless instructed by a physician) tells you to eliminate a food or an entire food group, run the other way! It is my passion and goal to help others understand the science behind nutrition and reach their goals. I focus on debunking fad diets and incorporating all types of foods!

I started Almond Milk is Nuts on Instagram in May of 2020 during quarantine. Like many, I was laid off from my corporate position and it really was the push I needed to build my own business. I appreciate each and every one of you and hope you enjoy and learn something new about nutrition. I’m only a message away!

Family

Family is extremely important to me and I am lucky enough to have a supportive and loving one. I am married to a wonderful man, named Kalin, we have been together for over 12 years and we have an incredible son together. Setting a positive example for my son when it comes to food, body image, and health is essential. No “almond moms” here ;).

Food

I love food that is full of color, flavor, and nutrients. Food has no moral value and there is no such thing as “good” or “bad” foods. All foods are welcome and there is nothing I will tell you you can’t eat (unless you’re allergic lol.) Restricting food or food groups can create an unhealthy relationship with food and may lead to bingeing or overeating and over here we never deprive ourselves.
